This weekend, when the weekly collect prayer speaks of Jesus as our Good Shepherd, we have a lesson that tells the story of how St. Peter healed an older woman when she had died. It’s a story that seems very similar to the story of how Jesus healed a little girl in a similar way. And there are obvious hints in the story that seem to point us to stories of the prophets in the Hebrew tales as well.

In the sermon below I speak about how the great story is told us again and again in Holy Scripture. It’s not that the writers are rehashing a theme – its that they are adding detail and insight each time the story is told in a different setting and with different highlights. And that story is being told in our day and in our own lives as well.
