Blessing of the Animals 2010

Religion

Well hello there horsey...We had yet another successful Blessing of the Animals at the Cathedral this weekend. We had all sorts of animals and their people present – this year we had cats, dogs, puppies, native American ducks, a horse, a guinea pig, and an African Tortoise. (Still no Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, but I live in hope…)

We were joined by a local business this year who provided treats for all the animals and water for all. I think this was Canon Noonan’s first “Blessing of the Animals” service, so hopefully we’ll have started a movement with her as she goes forth from this place when her time among comes to an end and she takes responsibility for her first parish.

If you’re in the area, be sure to join us next year. Especially if you have some interesting pets to bring along!

There’s a whole gallery of pictures here if you’re interested.

    Rev. Knisely,
Be careful what you wish for. I know someone who raises Madagascar Hissing Cockraoches.

My Hisser source asked how close to the Blessing of the Animals is the Cathedral sprayed for bugs? You don’t want to have to combine the blessing with a healing service.
