Arctic melt faster than forecast

More worrisome news on the Climate front:

“Arctic ice is melting faster than computer models of climate calculate, according to a group of US researchers.

Since 1979, the Arctic has been losing summer ice at about 9% per decade, but models on average produce a melting rate less than half that figure.”

The article doesn’t mention whether the discrepency is due to fallacious assumptions in the models used or if the rate of change has increased since the numbers were first crunched. Either way it’s not good. Apparently we’ll be losing the polar caps in the next century if the present rate continues…
