Today, we come to the last Sunday of the church year as we celebrate the relatively modern feast of the Sunday of Christ the King. Many of us may have lost touch with the idea of kingship because the idea doesn't really speak to us anymore. The symbols of kingship are hard to interpret, especially as they are accompanied by bizarre and grand images offered in the prophetic books of scripture. But God speaks to us profoundly in these words. How shall we decode these messages and step into the symbolic universe of the Bible?
