Allentown food bank running short of supplies, money
“The Allentown Ecumenical Food Bank, the largest in the Lehigh Valley, has begun turning hungry families away due to a shortage of food and monetary donations, a spokeswoman said.”
I’m worried that this may be the first in a series of similar problems all around north-east PA. So many of the folks who live here are on fixed income that the anticipated spikes in heating costs this winter are going to have a much larger effect on this region than on others. We’re already hearing from folks in Bethlehem that it’s getting harder to raise money for social needs.
