Pew Internet & American Life Project: Spam and phishing: “Spam and Phishing: Email users get more spam, but the harmful impact of unsolicited messages is diminishing for them. More than a third of email users have gotten phishing solicitations”

This is interesting. One of the things that people who have used email for a long time have learned to do is to use tools like filters and spam removal services to increase the ratio of useful messages in their inboxes to the useless notes in their junk files. Perhaps now that many people are using email, the constant refrain of complaints that are heard from new users about spam will start to diminish in volume… if for no other reason than people are starting to learn how to use their email software.
