Presiding Bishops’ Resolution Passes

Fr. Nick called to thank you all for your prayers and support.

He said that there had been a new Windsor Report Resolution submitted by the Presiding Bishop and supported by the Presiding Bishop-Elect.  The Resolution passed both the House of Deputies and the House of Bishops.  Convention is now trying to finish other major legislation before it.

Here is a summary from Episcopal News Service:

>The 75th General Convention June 21 approved a resolution that calls >on bishops and Standing Committees to "exercise restraint by not >consenting to the consecration of any candidate to the episcopate >whose manner of life presents a challenge to the wider church and >will lead to further strains on communion."

The Archbishop of Canterbury has commended the Episcopal Church on the "exceptional seriousness" with which it worked on the Windsor Report, and said that he would have a further reflection in a few days’ time.

Stay tuned for a complete report from Fr. Nick.  Let us continue to pray for GC as it  completes its work, and pray for safe journeys for everyone home.

Peace,
Laura+
