The Very Rev. Sam Chandler, Dean of the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta, GA wrote a plea to the House of Bishops and Deputies email list early this morning.
He ends his request that we listen to each other, and that we be heard, by saying that the Anglican Church, the Episcopal Church, is not the Church of the middle way. It is the Church of the comprehensive way.
I add to his words that, our struggle is to find space so that all may remain in relationship to each other in such a way that they are not required to involuntarily act against their consciences.
Pray that we can find such a way today as we meet in Special Session on this last day of General Convention.
